This is a terrific easy to read statement on that issue. Completely agree, obviously.Deborah Blumhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06979066785809528261noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4781993243545658588.post-79118946364446951722011-03-29T19:18:00.421-07:002011-03-29T19:18:00.421-07:00I like your posts on water -- a resource we take f...I like your posts on water -- a resource we take for granted so often in this country. It does seem to me that in this country, the consequences of water usage vary geographically. For example, I'd guess that a golf course in Arizona has far more environmental impact than one in Madison. Do you agree?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4781993243545658588.post-12826039156779081432011-03-29T17:49:18.654-07:002011-03-29T17:49:18.654-07:00I am digging the water posts!
I just read a boo...I am digging the water posts!

I just read a book by a UW alum who went to study in Senegal, and was dismayed by how much we *waste* in this country. The sprinkler that some people use to water their grass(and the sidewalk) during the middle of the day, like you said, is equal to - or even more than - the amount that individual in a developping country would use in an entire day. Even the French conserve water during their showers, because water utility costs are so much more expensive in Europe.

In conclusion, bring on the "military" showers!Victoriahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14779269513881014885noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4781993243545658588.post-6680088386538416472011-03-29T11:36:39.020-07:002011-03-29T11:36:39.020-07:00Thanks for the info, Jenny. And I definitely think "water footprint" should be talked about more often.Caroline Schneiderhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00718369417775372745noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4781993243545658588.post-61136939504673291262011-03-27T21:26:12.578-07:002011-03-27T21:26:12.578-07:00Interesting post, Jenny. I remember watching something on the Discovery Channel one time about how much water we use each day for showering, washing dishes, washing clothes, etc. It's mind boggling!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
